Experience Mission

EXPERIENCE MISSION

At PositivCares, we love shining a light on organizations that are doing good and finding real ways to serve others. This month, we’re highlighting Experience Mission, a Christian nonprofit that brings people together through mission trips and service experiences in communities across the U.S. and around the world.

Since 2003, Experience Mission has helped more than 40,000 youth and adults step outside their everyday routines, meet people from different walks of life, and serve alongside local churches, ministries, and community organizations.

And while the trips may take volunteers somewhere new, the heart of the organization is pretty simple: love God, love your neighbors, and show up ready to serve.

IT’S ABOUT PEOPLE

Mission trips often bring to mind building projects, home repairs, food distribution, and other hands-on work. And yes, Experience Mission volunteers do plenty of that.

But the work is only part of the story.

Experience Mission partners with people and organizations that already know their communities and understand where help is needed most. Volunteers aren’t there to come in with all the answers. They’re there to listen, learn, lend a hand, and get to know the people they’re serving alongside.

Sometimes that means picking up a hammer. Other times, it might mean serving a meal, spending time with kids, helping a family after a disaster, or simply sitting down and having a conversation.

Those relationships are what can turn a week of service into something that sticks with you long after you get home.

THERE’S MORE THAN ONE WAY TO SERVE

Experience Mission offers trips for youth groups, college students, adults, families, and anyone looking to put their faith into action.

Some experiences last about a week. Others go much deeper, including Experience Mission’s IMMERSION and Gap Year programs, which give young adults the opportunity to spend months living and serving in another community.

Wherever they go, volunteers work alongside local partners rather than around them. That can mean helping with home repairs, supporting ministries that serve children and families, working on food insecurity projects, assisting communities recovering from disasters, or pitching in wherever an extra set of hands can make a difference.

No two communities are exactly alike, and that’s part of the point.

COME HOME DIFFERENT

There’s something that happens when you leave what’s familiar and spend time with people whose lives may look very different from your own.

You listen more. You notice things you might have overlooked before. You start to see how much you have in common with people you may never have met otherwise.

That’s a big part of what Experience Mission hopes volunteers take home with them.

The goal isn’t just to spend a week doing good somewhere else. It’s to come home with a different perspective on what it means to be a neighbor—and to keep finding ways to serve wherever you are.

READY TO GET INVOLVED?

You don’t have to travel halfway around the world to make a difference. But sometimes stepping outside your normal routine is exactly what helps you see where you can make one.

Whether you’re looking for a mission trip for your church or youth group, an opportunity to serve together as a family, or a longer experience that will challenge you personally and spiritually, Experience Mission offers plenty of ways to get involved.
