Compassion International is a child-advocacy ministry that partners with thousands of local churches in 27 countries around the world to release children from poverty in Jesus' name. Due to the generous support of thousands of compassionate people like you, highly vulnerable children are given the opportunity to rise above their circumstances to become all God has created them to be.
Compassion’s 70-year ministry to children in poverty has never been more critical. The world is facing the most severe food shortage since World War II — and children living in poverty are the most vulnerable and hardest hit. Nearly 830 million people will go hungry today. Some will even starve to death. And children are the most affected by the crisis: Kids who don’t have enough to eat grow progressively weaker and suffer stunting that impairs their cognitive development and opportunities for the future.
10-year-old Raphael experiences the pain of the food crisis every day in Ghana. His mother, Abigail, is forced to make heartbreaking decisions to survive. “We can’t afford to eat three times a day,” she shares. “If we risk it, we may not have food to eat the next day.” Fortunately, Raphael is registered with a Compassion Child Development Center and finds hope and relief from his hunger during the week. Compassion also provides Raphael with food baskets for his family.
Compassion’s church partners faithfully serve children around the world. Because of supporters like you, the local churches are able to distribute emergency food packs, send cash transfers and train caregivers in agriculture and animal care to provide sustainable solutions to hunger. These measures not only meet immediate needs but promote lifelong food security, enabling children to grow into healthy and thriving adults.
This Christmas, children and families around the world desperately need our support to have enough to eat and get back on the road to self-sufficiency. Partnering with Compassion not only fights hunger but shares the hope of Jesus with families who are most in need. A gift of just $10 could provide a child with essentials like rice, eggs, meat, milk and corn.
